Advice for parents during Coronavirus/Covid-19 outbreak

Dear Parent/Guardian

We hope your child is well. We know you want to keep them safe.

If you have concerns about your child being unwell we have enclosed a link to a guide below with regards to SELF CARE and NEED to contact a clinician at your GP Practice or go to A&E/999.

We want to reassure you that you should continue to contact your GP as usual if your child is unwell with AMBER/Red symptoms in the chart despite the disruption to our lives caused by Coronavirus.

Coronavirus is unlikely to make your child unwell, but other illnesses may make your child severely unwell. You should not delay in contacting your GP if you have concerns with AMBER/Red symptoms.

Your GP is available to give advice and can rapidly obtain specialist advice from a hospital paediatrician.

Please trust your instincts and call your GP or NHS111 If there is a reason to do so. Together we can keep your children well.

Coronavirus is infectious to children but it is rarely serious. If your child is unwell it is likely to be a non-coronavirus illness.

Whilst it is extremely important to follow Government advice to stay at home during this period, it can be confusing to know what to do when your child is unwell or injured.
